Shuttle Service Division - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What services do you provide?

A. Airport shuttles, limo bus and trolley bus for weddings parties,, proms, parades, birthdays, etc.

Q. What airports do you serve?

A. Baton Rouge and New Orleans, and on request, Lafayette.

Q. What times do you depart for the New Orleans Airport?

A. At this time we have no set departure times but work by advance reservations.

Q. How far in advance should I call for a reservation?

A. Call at the same time you make your airline reservations or ASAP after. Every time our phone rings, our schedule changes. You would rarely think of calling for an airline reservation the same afternoon as your trip would you? We ask you to help us with advance notification so we can handle your reservation.

Q. How early can you pick me up for New Orleans Airport?

A. We can pick you up as early as 4am, but there will be an additional charge for pickup before 5:30am.

Q. How long does it take to drive from Baton Rouge to New Orleans Airport?

A. Driving time is usually not more than 1.5 hours, but traffic conditions or other pickups on the shuttle may make the trip longer. We reserve the right to make the decision on adequate pickup times.

Q. Where do I meet you on return to the New Orleans Airport?

A. If you exit Baggage Claim at baggage carousel #8 and follow the crosswalk into the bottom of the Short Term Parking Garage, you will end up in the Transportation Center. Our driver will be there to greet you with your name on a sign.

Q. Where do I meet you on return to the Baton Rouge Airport?

A. If you exit Baggage Claim at the door to the right hand side, you will look across the driveway and see our vehicle and driver holding a sign with your name. The van will be across the median from the Taxi Stand.

Q. What is your cancellation policy for airport pickups?

A. We need you to cancel a minimum of 4 hours before your flight arrives. If you fail to cancel, and our driver goes to meet you at the airport, your credit card will be charged 1 Ĺ times the original trip costs.

Q. Do you furnish car seats for infants or children in any of your vehicles?

A. No, that is the customerís responsibility.

Q. Is there a charge for my child to travel?

A. We are happy to offer children under 3 years old Free transportation.

Q. How many bags may I bring on the shuttle?

A. Our prices are based on handling two suitcases per person plus 2 personal articles. (computers case, purse, diaper bag, etc.) Any additional luggage will be charged at $2 each

Q. Will I be traveling alone in my ride to the airport?

A. Our airport shuttles are ďshared ridesĒ with other guests who have made reservations to the same destination or area. Private transportation may be available at a higher price depending on vehicle and driver availability.

Q. Can you take me from Baton Rouge to downtown New Orleans?

A. Yes, again with advance reservations.

Q. Can I bring my pet on the shuttle?

A. As long as the pet is in a standard pet carrier and no other guests on board object. There will be an additional charge of $5 per trip for a pet carrier.

Q. Will you walk my child to the gate at the airport?

A. Children under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult. Due to Federal regulations, we are not allowed to do anything but pickup and drop off at designated airport areas.

Q. Will you guarantee that a shuttle will be at the airport when I arrive.

A. We try to time our arrival to coordinate with your flight arrival plus the time it take for you to retrieve your baggage. On some occasions, traffic, accidents, weather, etc. may delay our on time arrival at your pickup. You will be notified, if possible, when this occurs.

Q. What happens when there is a wreck, bad weather, or other event that causes me to miss my flight?

A. We cannot be held responsible for conditions beyond our control.

Medical Division - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the cost of your service?

A. 45.50 for an ambulatory transport, 58.50 for non-ambulatory (wheel chair) transport.

Q. Do you accept Insurance or Medicaid as payment?

A. No. We only accept Money Orders or Credit Cards.

Q. What are your hours of operation?

A. Monday thru Friday, 7:00am till 5:00pm

Q. My parent is a resident of a nursing home and would like to have them home for the holiday.

A. We are closed for all major holidays, but if a driver volunteers to work we will gladly schedule your trip. The rate is higher than normal though. Please inquire as to costs.

Q. What serviceís can I expect?

A. Courteous, door to door, round trip transport by a professional driver to and from your Drís appointment within a 20-mile radius one-way.

Q. My Drís office is further than 20 miles one way.

A. We will gladly transport you to any appointment statewide, any mileage incurred over 20 miles each way will be billed at $2.25 a mile.

Q. How much advance notice do I need to provide?

A. We would appreciate 48 hours notice.

Q. The trip is for my parent, but a family member/care taker needs to be with them.

A. Family members or caretakers are more than welcome to ride along at no additional cost.

Q. I need someone to help my family member upstairs or out of bed.

A. Our service covers transportation by a professional driver only. We donít provide any care taking services at this time.

Q. What qualifications does your driving staff have?

A. All of our drivers have a Class D (Chauffeurs) License minimum. All drivers are certified yearly in Defensive driving, First Aid, CPR, as well as quarterly wheelchair securement training.

Q. The last company I used had a used van that broke down causing me to miss my appointment.

A. All of our busses are radio dispatched, late model and maintained on a daily basis. We use a preventive maintenance program, which helps us identify problems.

Para Transit - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can any one use the service?

A. No. The service is provided for residents of the parish who a physically un-able to get to a bus stop.

Q. I am physically challenged and would like to make use of the service.

A. There is an application form that has to be filled out and submitted to CATS for approval to use the service. We can mail you an application from our office.

Q. Is there any cost to use the service?

A. Yes, $1.00 each way.

Q. How do I set trips up?

A. You must call our reservationists who will schedule your trip. Trips are based on the availability of seats and first come, first served.

Q. My Dr.ís appointment is a month from now, can I call and reserve a spot?

A. We can only schedule trips 2 weeks out.

Q. Is the service parish wide?

A. No, at this time the Para transit busses only cover the areas that are covered by the city busses.

Q. At times different members of the family would like to ride with me.

A. Family members, or a caretaker are more than welcome to accompany you, but must be arranged in advance.
